LG has just announced their entry to the Ultrabook category, the 13.3″ Xnote Z330. While the outside cover has a concentric circle, etched pattern similar to that of the ASUS Zenbooks (although more subtle and originates from the corner instead of from the center of the cover), the overall look of the Xnote Z330 resembles that of a MacBook Pro/Air.
At its thinnest point, the Xnote Z330 is thinner than the MacBook Air. It weighs less than 3 lbs, but still manages to pack a full-sized HDMI-out port, microSD slot, and USB 3.0 port. The screen has the typical 1366 x 768 Ultrabook resolution, but has an overall narrower bezel, allowing the 13.3″ to fit into the space of a typical 12″ screen.
The Xnote Z330 can be configured with either an Intel Core i5 1.6 GHz or Core i7 1.7 GHz processor, both with 4 GB RAM standard. The Core i5 version ships with a 120 GB SSD, while the Core i7 version has 256 GB SSD storage. Connectivity-wise, the Z330 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, and is Wireless Display (WiDi)-ready. LG’s “Rapid Start Technology” allows the Z330 to cold boot into Windows 7 in less than 10 seconds.
The Core i5 model starts at a little more than $1500, while the higher-end version costs over $2300, so it seems LG hasn’t tried to stick with the sub-$1000 pricing that most Ultrabook manufacturers are aiming for. Further details on availability should be forthcoming.
