Toshiba Portege Z835 Ultrabook :Review

Toshiba’s first ultrabook will debut in the US as a Best Buy exclusive. The electronics retailer will soon off the Toshiba Portege Z835 for $899.

The Toshiba Portege Z835-P330 features a 13.3 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 1.3 GHz Intel Core i3-2367M processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB solid state disk.

The laptop measures 12.4″ x 8.9″ x 0.6″ and weighs about 2.4 pounds.

Toshiba is one of the first companies to hop on the ultrabook bandwagon. Ultrabooks are a new category of thin and light laptop that Intel is pushing. They’re designed to offer some of the benefits of netbooks or tablets including light weight and small size, while offering the power you’d expect from a high-end notebook thanks to a powerful processor and fast solid state disk.

The Portege Z835 is expected to come in multiple configurations, and it looks like the Best Buy model will be the cheapest of the bunch. But at $899, it’s the same price as the Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook, cheaper than any Asus Zenbook ultrabook, and about $100 cheaper than the least expensive MacBook Air.

The new Toshiba Portege Z835 Ultrabook will be available at Best Buy for cost $899. It is the lightest Ultrabook, weighing less than 2.5 pounds.

The Toshiba Portege Z835 Ultrabook comes with a 1.4GHz Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, an Intel 3000 HD graphics and a 13.3-inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution.

Though not yet available, the Z835 has already been reviewed by Laptop Magazine, which hailed it as the “lightest” and the “best” Ultrabook yet. If all that praise has piqued your interest in the Z835, please note that it will soon become available from Best Buy for $899. Powered by a 1.4GHz Core i3 processor, the 2.45-lb Z835 features a 13-inch 1366x768 display, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. At just 0.6 inch thick, it is clearly a very, very thin machine.

This is also good news for those who are want a matte screen and a faster solid state drive. The model we have in for review is aimed at the average consumer, which means we may still see higher end versions for mobile professionals.
