Close followers of HTC would be happy to note that the company’s tablet – HTC Flyer – would soon be receiving an update to Android 4.0 or the infamous Ice Cream Sandwich.
A quick glimpse on the Flyer shows that it is a 7-inch touchscreen tablet with 1024×600 display resolution. It has the 1.5GHz single-core processor on it that’s partnered with 1 GB of RAM. Storage is about 32GB which can be expanded since there’s a microSD slot present. Also, it has two cameras, the 1.3 MP front-facing one and 5 MP rear-facing camera. The Flyer also pack’s HTC Scribe technology. And since it will soon be donning Android 4.0, it may be nice to look at the changes brought by Ice Cream Sandwich. Duly noted is the new user interface (UI) which brings in a sleek futuristic design.
There’s also face unlock which literally means unlocking the phone by looking at the camera. Developers have also incorporated Android Beam which is much like NFC. Other cool features include improved web browser (it’s now more like the Chrome browser on the desktop), voice to speech feature and widget management. As for the coming update, word is out that Ice Cream Sandwich may be well on its way on the Flyer come first quarter of 2012. Stay tuned.
